Levitations

Levitations are a series of small format watercolours created exclusively by Artist Jorge Rivera for Riana Raouna Gallery. These watercolours explore and to a certain degree also illustrate uplifting moments encountered within the creative process, transformative experiential moments full of life that overwhelm the Artist with deep emotions. Blissful peak moments of expression when time seems to hold still, brief unsustainable instances when the sense of self is enhanced.  These watercolours are an attempt to share these deep emotions with Riana and her audience to hopefully also uplift them and bring the ever expanding possibilities of creativity into their lives.

SUNSET

Being, the world shapes the body of the Artist who has filled up his/her inner

walls with experiences that determine an ever moving essence.

Wrestling with sublation, inner shine fills up these walls which like a balloon

commences to elevate and expand the sense of self, shouting out freedom from

the darkness of the abyss within the silent solitude of the studio.

I/me/you/we… this thinning and now ever expanding skin could touch the

immensity of the sky, looking for an eternally suspended yet fleeting moment of

illusory balance.

- Wait, wait, wait… need to breathe!

BOOM!!!

- Is this the loudest crack?

SUNRISE

Open eyes, blinking less,  body less, motionless, floating above my bed, breath so thin and fresh, porous minty ness, absorbing through all pores. more freshness, more and more ‘endlessness-ness’.

Life strives towards this feeling of nearly dying, being beyond being, one step away from any sense of me. Please stay, continue to caress me with you holy breath, keep suspending me and allow me to swim effortlessly in the wings of your dense air. Flying snail without a shell, homeless entity, leaving no traces of saliva once stillness fills up the space.

Many colors invade the field of vision and in rapture a painting has just been made.

- Don’t touch me no more-  it says,

- Go and undress another innocent canvas and get your dirty hands all over it!
